Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990, the Tsingy occupy part of the vast limestone plateau of the same name and form one of Madagascar’s most spectacular natural landscapes.
Their extraordinary geological formations consist of a maze of faults, crevices and razor-sharp limestone pinnacles sculpted by erosion over millions of years.
The Bemaraha region is home to an exceptional diversity of endemic wildlife and plant species. Nearly 400 animal species — including mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians — have been recorded in the park, along with around 900 native plant species.
Two major rivers cross the region: the Tsiribihina and the Manambolo. Accompanied by your guide, you can explore these waterways by traditional canoe, travelling alongside dramatic gorges and the towering limestone formations of the Tsingy.
For those wishing to venture further underground, caving excursions are also available, offering an opportunity to explore the hidden galleries beneath the canyons.
The national park is characterised by two major geological formations: the Grand Tsingy and the Petit Tsingy.

Begin the journey back towards Morondava.
On the way, visit the iconic Avenue of the Baobabs, located approximately 15 kilometres from Morondava. This extraordinary landscape, lined with imposing baobab trees, is particularly spectacular at sunset, when the last rays of light illuminate the red, dusty soil of the Menabe region.
Morondava is also home to a people with a rich and distinctive cultural heritage. Discover the traditional Sakalava funerary art, known for its colourful frescoes and sculptures, which depict the stories and beliefs surrounding death, life and fertility.

After breakfast at around 8:00 am, meet your guide for a briefing before setting off along the coastal track towards Belo sur Mer.
Enjoy a relaxing half-day break before embarking on the more adventurous sections of your journey.
Depending on your interests, there is the possibility of visiting the salt flats, the local shipyard and a traditional Vezo fishing village, offering a fascinating insight into the lifestyle and maritime traditions of this coastal community.

Continue your journey along Madagascar’s remote south-western coastline.
The route takes you through salt flats, river crossings and bush landscapes before reaching Manja.
Continue towards Morombe, one of the gateways to the wild and largely untouched coastline of south-western Madagascar.

Follow the sandy coastal track, sometimes passing through remote villages and vast stretches of dunes, as you make your way towards Salary.
This is one of the most authentic and adventurous sections of the journey, where the wild beauty of Madagascar’s south-western coastline takes centre stage.

After an orientation tour of the old town of Fianarantsoa, continue towards Ranomafana National Park, arriving at the end of the day.

Spend the morning exploring Ranomafana National Park, located in south-eastern Madagascar within a lush tropical rainforest environment.
The park is home to numerous rare and endemic species of flora and fauna, including the golden bamboo lemur, greater bamboo lemur, black-and-white ruffed lemur and Milne-Edwards’ sifaka, as well as more than 130 species of frogs.
Created in 1991 to protect the unique biodiversity of the local ecosystem and reduce human pressure on the protected area, Ranomafana forms part of the Rainforests of the Atsinanana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Continue the journey towards Ambositra, renowned for its traditional craftsmanship.

The Zafimaniry cultural heritage is particularly celebrated for its remarkable woodcarving tradition, an ancestral skill passed down through generations.
Traditional Zafimaniry architecture and craftsmanship are distinguished by intricate geometric motifs carved into shutters, doors and furniture. These designs carry deep symbolic and spiritual meanings, reflecting the community’s culture and relationship with nature.
The Zafimaniry woodworking tradition was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008.
After lunch at your own expense, continue towards Antsirabe, known as the “City of Water” and often referred to as the Malagasy spa town.
Arrival at the end of the day and check-in at your hotel.

After breakfast, explore Antsirabe, a city famous for its colourful rickshaws and distinctive atmosphere.
Continue with visits to local artisan workshops, where you can discover traditional embroidery, miniature artwork and handmade confectionery.
